Abstract

This session will address the complexities of legislation that exist within congregate care facilities, ei. Community-based group homes, and ethical tensions ensue when they are misinterpreted. Specifically, addressing the need for PWIDD’s wishes regarding DNR to be honoured in the place they call home. Discussion will be had around the chasms that exist between the developmental services and healthcare sectors illuminating some novel interventions that are beginning to bridge these gaps.
