Evaluating the Toronto Region Hospitals COVID-19 Visitor Policy Using an Accountability for Reasonableness Framework
January 19, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST
Speaker:
Vivian Tam, MD, MSc, CCFP(EM) candidate, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Ottawa
About this Seminar:
In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the introduction of visitor restrictions to acute care hospitals in Ontario, Canada, which remain in evolution as we navigate successive phases of the pandemic. In response, the Toronto Region COVID-19 Hospital Operations Table developed a policy to facilitate these restrictions at six academic institutions in the city. This seminar will explore the results of the first qualitative quality improvement initiative designed to evaluate whether the development and implementation of the policy was fair, based on Accountability for Reasonableness (A4R), as well as what lessons were learned to facilitate the improved design and delivery of visitor policies in future.
