Dianne Godkin is Senior Ethicist with Trillium Health Partners and is the Lead for the Regional Ethics Program which provides ethics services to a number of healthcare organizations in and around the Mississauga Halton LHIN. She has over ten years of experience as a clinical ethicist having worked prior to her current appointment as the Regional Ethicist at The Credit Valley Hospital and as a Clinical Ethicist with the Centre for Clinical Ethics (a joint venture of Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre, and St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto).
Her prior education includes a Post Graduate Clinical Ethics Fellowship with the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics, Doctoral and Master’s Degrees in Nursing from the University of Alberta, Edmonton and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Western Ontario, London.
Her research interests include the use of qualitative methods to explore end-of-life decision-making and advance care planning. In 2008, a book based on her doctoral research was published by the University of Alberta Press, with the title "Living Will, Living Well: Reflections on Preparing an Advance Directive."
